Three Keys
I've recently taken a workshop called "Illustrated." The theme of this workshop is to read books and get inspired through different passages in the book. Then create a photograph using the passages you chose in the book that sparked your imagination, how you might see it in your mind's eye.
I have to say I was a bit apprehensive about this project since I'm not a big book reader. But I decided to give it a go. I've read two of the four books that were recommended. The first two books were great! Which were "Starless Sea" and "Night Circus" by Erin Morgenstern. I also marked a lot of passages in each book. I then created a storyboard of sorts for each passage as I saw it in my mind. Then I would try to recreate the passage into a photograph. In some cases, it worked, others not so much, but I was inspired to create many new images and backgrounds.
In the "Starless Sea," there were several references to skeleton keys, which I love to collect. I have created many photographs with skeleton keys which you'll see in future posts. This one, "Three Keys," is one of my favorites which also features one of the backgrounds I made for these photoshoots which, I love and use often!
Stay tuned for my next post.
