Imagination!
What I really love about doing still life photography is creating different stories. What I mean is I get to express myself with all the different things that I enjoy. Like flowers, gardening, baking, holidays, and what ever else inspires my imagination. And that's it in a nutshell! My imagination....I have a great imagination and sometimes words don't say what I see...so creating a still life story gets it out there with the help of a few words.
For example I love Halloween! It's one of my favorite holidays and I love to think up all kinds of scariness….Now I don't necessarily mean blood and gore...I mean skulls, skeletons, witches, goblins and such.
This past Halloween I collected a few items in which to create some Halloween type scenes.

To the right here are some of the props I collected and this was my starting point for the photo shoot. Of course I changed items out, added different items. Vertical verses horizontal. After a couple hundred shots, I ended up with about 19 possibilities and will probably finish with about 6 that will end up in my final collection.
The photograph below is my first to be added to the collection. Which I've titled "Masquerade Invitation". I love the way it turned out! Just how I imagined it would be and more! Can you imagine getting an invitation like this? Would you go? What do you think happened at that masquerade party....if anything. Where does your imagination go with this photograph? Leave a comment and let me know your thoughts.
